Vitamin B7 (more commonly known as 'Biotin' or 'Vitamin H') is essential in the metabolism and synthesis of essential fatty acids, carbohydrates and fats and the release of energy from these foods. Like many of the other B vitamins, biotin is involved in the intermediary metabolism of carbohydrates, energy and fats. It is of central importance in lipogenesis (fat manufacture), gluconeogenesis (glycogen manufacture) and branched chain amino acid metabolism.
