Vitamin B9 (more commonly known as 'Folic Acid' and 'Folate') is required for the production of red blood cells, DNA and proteins in the body. B9 (Folic Acid) is essential for the proper cell replication and thus for the development and maintenance of body tissues and systems (especially the nervous system). Vitamin B9 is also important during pregnancy to prevent babies being born with spina bifida.
